We love Jacksonville for so many reasons, one of these reasons is all the great things there are to see and do year-round. If you are ready to get out and enjoy the sunshine and the beautiful weather, we have a list of things you may want to try this Spring.
Events and Spring Fun in Jacksonville:
The Jacksonville Farmers Market – One of Florida’s oldest farmers markets, the Jacksonville Farmers Market is a great place to go if you are looking for freshly picked produce, fresh baked bread products, unique spices and sauces, and just about anything else you could want when it comes to delicious fresh food. The best thing about this farmers market is that it is open daily, all year round, from sun up to sun down. No need to schedule this on your calendar, just turn up!
Bird Watching Hike – If you love bird watching, or you would like to see what the fuss is all about, Spring is a great time to pick up your binoculars and head out with the Santa Fe Audobon Society. The hike starts at 7am on Saturday, April 25, at the Ravine Gardens State Park. You will head out on the hike looking for birds like the Swallow-Tailed Kite, Great Horned Owl, Red-Shouldered Hawk, and other birds that may be on their migration path. After the hike the Water Works Environmental Education Center will be holding a special Earth Day Celebration.
Homebrewers Big Brew it Day – If you are a homebrewer or you just love beer, the Jacksonville area homebrewers will be getting together on May 2 at Just Brew It Riverside to show off their techniques and tastes. CASK brewers will start brewing around 10am, offering a variety of different styles of beer for tasting. Contact Just Brew It at (904) 381-1983 for more information.
The PGA Players Tour – The Players Championship or TPC Tour will be held at TPC Sawgrass, Ponte Vedra Beach, May 7 thru to May 10. This is one of the most coveted titles on the PGA tour and we are lucky enough to have it right in our own backyard. You can purchase daily or weekly tickets as single tickets or in packages, including family packages and VIP access packages.
Jacksonville Zoo and Garden – Spring is a great time to visit the zoo, with mild temperatures and plenty of animal activity, the family can spend the whole day exploring. The Zoo is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm, and 9am to 6pm on the weekends. The zoo will be holding a special Mother’s Day promotion on Sunday May 10 where moms will be able to get in free with the purchase of any adult or child’s ticket. The Zoo will also be holding a Garden & Wine Festival on May 2-3, which includes a tree, plant, and flower sale. Tickets to the zoo cost $13.95 for adults, $11.95 for children over three, and all children under three get into the zoo for free.
Orchestra Spring Concert – The Jacksonville Symphony Youth Orchestra will be performing their final spring concert at the Times-Union Center for the Performing Arts on Sunday, May 5. Jacksonville Landing – If you are looking for a day of shopping, dining, and even a little time in the sun, The Jacksonville Landing is the perfect place. Enjoy views of the Saint John’s River and the city as you explore restaurants, stores, and entertainment options. Shopping at Jacksonville Landing ranges from small and unique antique stores, to popular clothing brands. Most weekends you can also catch Live music in the open court. If you need to refresh your Spring and Summer wardrobe the Jacksonville Landing is the perfect spot.
Camp Milton – This is the perfect place to be on a beautiful sunny day. Camp Milton was once a confederate base during the Civil War, however these days you can still catch some of the action as reenactments of battles take place throughout the day. Camp Milton is not just about the area’s history, it is also a great place to get some fresh air and exercise. The 124-acre park is filled with nature trails, biking trails, and a boardwalk. You can find Camp Milton at 1175 Halsema Road N, Jacksonville.
As you can see Spring is a great time to get out and explore Jacksonville with all that the area has to offer.
