How to Keep Cool in Jacksonville This Summer

When winter’s set in, we all look forward to summer and hot days spent on the beach or water-themed amusement parks or weekend barbeques with friends and family. When spring is in, you step out of the heated indoors into the warm spring air and are happy to be in the sun. You talk about enjoying the spring sunshine. Then the Florida summer sets in, with its heat and humidity, sending you running inside for the air-conditioned air. Even with the air conditioner working at full blast, it can be difficult to cope with the sweltering heat of a Jacksonville, FL summer.

Here are some cool ways to stay cool during the summer in Florida:

  • Keep your curtains and blinds closed and windows shut; it will keep the daylight out and also the ambient heat and glare of the bright summer sun out of your home, during the hottest times of the day.
  • Keep your front and back doors closed as much as possible; when you have to sign for a parcel or something, don’t do it with the door open. Step out and close the door behind you. This will help you to keep the cooled air from escaping and hot air from outside rushing in.
  • Check for leaks and insulate your attic; many people forget about their attic while cooling the rest of their homes; the attic gets overheated without proper insulation. There have been occasions when the attic air has touched 120 degrees; this can be a dangerous fire hazard in the summer in Jacksonville, Florida, not to mention a drain on your HVAC unit.
  • Ensure that your HVAC system is regularly serviced and maintained for optimum performance. This will help you to stay cool and relaxed, and also save on your energy bills.
  • Florida has amazing beaches and plenty of waterfront localities; there are numerous water-based amusements parks where you and your family can spend your hot summer days, having fun, while also staying cool. Head to one of these water parks or the beach to beat the Florida heat in the summer.
  • Most home ovens do not have an outside exhaust; so when you use your oven to cook during the hotter months, in the daytime, the heat nullifies the cooling effect of your air conditioner. This will also lead to an increase in your energy bill which can be avoided. To prevent this from happening, try not to use the oven during the daytime in the summer months in Jacksonville, Florida.
  • Take it to the pool; there are plenty of beaches in Florida, not to mention public pools. There are indoor Olympic sized swimming pools that can be fun for you and your children. There are also plenty of adventure parks with water slides and wave pools, and kiddie coves for you to spend time with your children and stay chilled.

If you practice simple measures like keeping the heat out, doors closed, your attic well-insulated and your HVAC unit in good condition, you can weather the hot and humid summers of Florida in relative cool and comfort. At Snyder Heating and Air Conditioning, we know the importance of a well-maintained ac unit when you’re living in the Jacksonville area of Florida. Customer Reviews

This was an exceptional experience! We woke up to our A/C on but not cooling (it was 6am and already 81 in the house). The person who set up our appointment was very nice, able to get us seen same-day, and let us know of some options to help save us money.

-Christy Cormier

The service from Sam and Chris was excellent! They were very knowledgeable and professional. They were able to answer all of my questions and completed all of my electrical issues. I will definitely use them again for future jobs. Thank you!

-Adrienne Beal

From the get go I could tell that the Snyder employees were truly professionals and didn’t push to make sales like other companies I’ve talked to my whole life. They took the time to explain so that I could make a decision. The installers and later the duct cleaners were very respectful during their work here. Thank you.

-Mike Daniels

Snyder came in and did a total overhaul of our duct system. They had a great knowledge of what to do to make our home so comfortable! The technicians were all so professional and took great care of us! We’re so thankful for their expertise. Great and easy communication with the call center. We will definitely use them again!

Snyder provided an amazing experience from start to finish. Most of us dread getting estimates with pressuring salespeople. Erik was a great guy, explained all my options and didn’t try to pressure me to act quickly! Justin followed up with my husband and I to offer further assistance in our decision. Again, no pressure, just helped with our follow up questions.

-Michele Bauer

Very prompt, professional, courteous, and cleaned up after repair. Had water line break in my front yard and no pressure. Very pleased and would highly recommend Snyder for all your plumbing, and AC needs. Thank you for making a rough morning get better with ease and professionalism.

Snyder was easy to get in contact with and had availability the next day. Clint came out and needed some parts so had to reschedule us for the next day for installation. He did a great job converting our old 3 knob shower to one. Looks great! Professional and courteous. 100% recommend this company, especially Clint.
