Do I Need a Whole Home Humidifier?

Do I Need a Whole Home Humidifier?

Dry air in a confined area can cause significant respiratory issues and increase many of the symptoms of allergies, especially during the cold winter months. When dry air is continually supplied in the home, it can eventually draw most of the stored moisture away from porous fabrics and materials including furniture, woodwork, pianos, wood floors, doors and trim. When the air is dry, the temperature in the room will feel much colder than in humidified rooms. Sometimes the best solution for dry air is to install a whole home humidifier.

The Level of Humidity Installed whole home humidifiers are designed to monitor the level of humidity of the interior space. They generally turn on only when adding moisture is essential to maintain optimal air quality. Some whole home humidifiers use regulators as a way to control the humidification process. By regulating levels of humidity, the unit can help control mold and mildew buildup in the home.

Convenience

Whole home humidifiers are installed in the home’s A/C unit or forced air furnace system. The level of humidity can be pre-set at the thermostat, and left to monitor the moisture levels in the house. Using a hygrometer to measure, control and maintain the levels of humidity, a whole home humidifier will evenly distribute the moisture through every room of the house.

Maintaining Better Health

With optimal levels of humidity in the home, every family member can maintain better health. Avoiding breathing a constant supply of overly dry air will minimize dry eyes, irritated mucous membranes, itchy skin and sore throats. Family members will experience fewer asthma and allergy symptoms. Static electricity will be greatly reduced in a properly humid environment.

Humidifier Maintenance

The whole home humidifier will require a pad change 2 to 4 times every year, as recommended by the manufacturer. Additionally, homes that experience higher levels of dust require changing the pad more often. By performing whole home humidifier maintenance on a routine annual basis, built-up mineral deposits left behind by the water that evaporates can be removed to help increase the longevity of the unit.

According to studies, the indoor relative humidity should remain around 30% to 60% year-round. Within these percentages, humidity levels help reduce indoor pathogen growth including mold and dust mites, while producing significant advantages of breathing moister air. Through the creation of water vapor, the whole home humidifier will make every person in the home breathe easier.

Customer Reviews

This was an exceptional experience! We woke up to our A/C on but not cooling (it was 6am and already 81 in the house). The person who set up our appointment was very nice, able to get us seen same-day, and let us know of some options to help save us money.

-Christy Cormier

The service from Sam and Chris was excellent! They were very knowledgeable and professional. They were able to answer all of my questions and completed all of my electrical issues. I will definitely use them again for future jobs. Thank you!

From the get go I could tell that the Snyder employees were truly professionals and didn’t push to make sales like other companies I’ve talked to my whole life. They took the time to explain so that I could make a decision. The installers and later the duct cleaners were very respectful during their work here. Thank you.

-Mike Daniels

Snyder provided an amazing experience from start to finish. Most of us dread getting estimates with pressuring salespeople. Erik was a great guy, explained all my options and didn’t try to pressure me to act quickly! Justin followed up with my husband and I to offer further assistance in our decision. Again, no pressure, just helped with our follow up questions.

-Michele Bauer
